Bring and Brag Highlights

This page includes a selection of the ideas that were shared at the first bring and brag event.

Idea 1: Creating a calm classroom environment using AB Tutor

Ideal way to start a lesson in a computer room. When you start AB Tutor it will ask you for a password – but there isn’t one needed, just press enter and it will load up.

4. Dice linking words

You need dice for this activity! Put 6 key words in one column and 6 in the other. The students then roll the dice twice to identify which word they have to use from each column. They then have to create a statement that uses both key terms. Their partner listens and if they think it makes sense, the speaker gets the points that the dice add up to.Dice linking words

About the blog

This year the school has a CPD focus based on four teaching and learning priorities:

  1. Set challenging learning tasks for all
  2. Questioning to encourage high order responses
  3. Effective assessment, feedback and dialogue
  4. Classroom climate for learning

The CPD offered to staff will allow everyone to personalise the CPD they do and help them identify the solutions to problems for themselves. We also want to provide a professional and supportive relationship between colleagues and to build continuous rather than occasional professional development.

The blog will be updated with information from the 15 minute forums that take place throughout the year. We decided 15 minute forums would be an excellent way for staff to access CPD as they are quick and it gives staff an opportunity to go away and try new techniques in their own lessons.
